STUDENTS TAKE UP FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE TO HELP LOCAL CHILDREN.
Local students, Saeed Atcha, Jasmine Moore and Mithun Kerai (Team LHSM) of Ladybridge High School will be participating in a ‘5K Legacy Event’ to raise money for Key 103’s Cash for Kids. It is a local charity supporting underprivileged and disadvantaged children living in the Greater Manchester area.
The supporters of Key103 and Magic 1152, raise funds through on‐ air promotions and events. We also work with a number of companies across the city, who adopt Key 103’s Cash for Kids as their local charity, enabling them to make a difference in the communities they operate.
Focus has been placed on projects that help alleviate situations of poverty, abuse, distress and neglect or to help provide better recreational facilities. Across the city Key 103’s Cash for Kids want to help local children live a better life.
Every year nearly 600 of Manchester’s children will be admitted to the Critical Care unit at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. Many of these children will need a CT Scan to help Doctors treat them.
At the moment this scanner is located in the X Ray department. Some children are just too poorly to move and Doctors have to treat them without the best information possible. Children that can be moved need up to 6 doctors and nurses to move them for the scan and this experience can be traumatic for both the parent and child.
A mobile Scanner is now available removing the risk and stress of moving a very poorly child. The hospital needs £80,000 to purchase this equipment and we want to help.
Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity is part of Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Charity.
Saeed, Mithun and Jasmine said of the challenge “We have chosen to support Cash For Kids by taking part in the 5K Event because we feel that we want to help local children like ourselves and promote the rights of every child”
